Christ Blessing The Children

"I believe the children are the
future, teach them well and let them lead the way." I wonder if
Whitney Houston knows how true it is when she sang that verse in one of
her popular songs?
We start teaching our children from the very first time we look into
their tiny little eyes. I believe the first lesson they learn is,
"Wow, this person loves me!" It is such a special bond.
After waiting for nine months, you finally meet your child. Now
what are you going to teach them?
Here at Georgetown Wesleyan Church we teach love. The love of
Jesus, to love yourself, and the love of a church family.
We meet every Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m. and on Wednesday nights, we
have a dinner at 6:00 p.m (provided by the youth), with class starting
at 7:00 p.m.
The children in my class are developing a great friendship, and a
strong love of Jesus. They are always learning with each class.
I often send home coloring pages and other materials to go with each
lesson. I hope these pages provide the children fun all week, and
helps to keep the lesson fresh in their minds. They also give the
parents a chance to see what their child is learning and to talk about
it with them. I also send home parent notes for every unit, so
they can review what is being taught.
I do believe we need to love ourselves to live a happy life, but loving
the Lord helps you to like who you are as well. If I could
re-write that song, I would say, "I decided long ago, only to walk in
His shadow. If I fail ,if I succeed, at least I know that I
believe, no matter what they take from me they can't take the Lord from
me, because the greatest love of all is happening to me. Learning
to love the Lord, is the greatest love of all."
